The film follows 17-year-old Suzume Iwato, a high schooler living in a quiet town in Kyushu. Her life takes an extraordinary turn when she encounters Souta, a "Closer" who is searching for mysterious doors that lead to a realm called the "Ever-After". When these doors open, they unleash a supernatural "worm" that causes catastrophic earthquakes across Japan. Together, Suzume and Souta must travel across the country to lock these portals and prevent further disaster.
